Overview


This training provides a detailed overview of MSC’s commercial-like operation and maintenance philosophy, including the use of commercial ship design standards (e.g., ABS Rules, CFR, SOLAS, MARPOL); MSC’s limited use of Navy standards; MSC’s Safety Management System; MSC’s Quality Management System; MSC ship operating models; RCM philosophy; alignment of maintenance and fiscal decision-making responsibility and authority; Port Engineer responsibility for maintenance planning and management; reliance on U.S. Merchant Mariners; robust crew maintenance capability;, use of web-based portal tools to enhance ashore and afloat visibility of maintenance and logistics planning and execution, predictive maintenance tools, automated maintenance management tools; and cost visibility.
