This training provides an overview of MSC’s maintenance availability planning requirements, including: MSC’s policies and practices for availability planning, including POA&M development and maintenance, availability duration estimate, advanced planning letter, and repair coordination meetings; work package development, including reviewing documented repair/alteration requirements (e.g., VRRs, CASREPS, TRANSALTs, regulatory requirements, and sponsor requirements), major equipment/systems inspections, work scope conference, work definition conference, joint quality assurance reading session, work package addendums, and procurement of government furnished material); ship’s crew planning; and creation of maintenance availability in PENG.

This training is an abbreviated version of the 8-hour MSC Availability Planning training that has been tailored to the training needs and time constraints associated with SSU personnel attending training in CONUS.  This training is also appropriate for other personnel who require only a cursory understanding of MSC availability planning processes.  This training will primarily focus on availability planning as it relates to voyage repair availabilities.

Recommended prerequisites: MSC Operation and Maintenance Philosophy, American Bureau of Shipping Vessel Certification, U.S. Coast Guard Vessel Inspection and Certification
