This training provides an overview of the basic elements of a contract; federal contracting objectives; and key differences between the regulations that govern commercial and federal contracting; government acquisition procedures (FAR parts 8, 12, 13, and 14); key contracting roles and responsibilities for Requirements Officials, Procuring Contracting Officer, Administrative Contracting Officer, Contracting Specialists, Contracting Officer’s Representative, Technical Point of Contact or Technical Representative, and the Office of Counsel; and types of government contracts. This training emphasizes understanding contracting fundamentals as they relate to the contracting activities with which N7 personnel are involved.

This training is an abbreviated version of the 4-hour Contracting Fundamentals training that has been tailored to the training needs and time constraints associated with SSU personnel attending training in CONUS.  This training is also appropriate for other personnel who require only a cursory understanding of contracting fundamentals.  This training will primarily focus on contracting fundamentals as they relate to voyage repair availabilities.
